“If someone comes along and shoots an arrow into your heart, it’s fruitless to stand there and yell at the person. It would be much better to turn your attention to the fact that there’s an arrow in your heart…”
― Pema Chödrön
We all live in hope – a desire accompanied by expectation of or belief in fulfillment. Without hope, creation ends, leaving no reason to draw another breath. But with hope, we shoot rockets of desire out into the Universe and when we hold steady that expectation of fulfillment we soon find ourselves in the midst of it. So you see, hope is a prime piece of our creating ability. The very fact that you are, right this very minute, drawing another breath and reading this, is a huge indicator that you’ve got hope!
Nothing quite stirs the blood like those two colorful seasons of Spring and Fall! The magic seems most evident in these two transitional seasons that speak so loudly of the cycle of life… the bursting forth of Spring and the pulling back of Autumn inspire us with new ideas and prepare us to develop a plan of action that takes us in new directions. Isn’t it marvelous that we live on a beautiful planet so perfectly aware of balance that she showcases Spring and Fall at the same time in opposite places? Magic indeed!
Become Who You Are. . I love the fact that each day I am choosing to BECOME whatever I want! .
You might be tempted to call me crazy… and you most certainly would not be the first… but today I can declare this truth loud and clear because I understand that a life plays out only as we choose. And we make hundreds, if not thousands of choices every single day. It is the accumulation of these choices that dictate who, how and what we have become. Right here, right now.
The year-end Holiday season can often be an emotional time for people… and not everyone finds themselves holding steady at the ‘Joyful’ end of that emotional spectrum, so I declare now the perfect time to explore ideas for Becoming Happy in 2015.
A realization dawned on me during the Christmas holiday season this year. Don’t know why I haven’t caught it before; Perhaps it was too obvious? It’s the relationship between anticipation and creativity.
Change – It’s challenging all of us right now in some fashion or another!
Can you feel it?
I have been deeply immersed in some massive changes for what feels like a very long time. Seven moves in the last 10 years (the 7th one I’m engaged in as I write)… and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. I find change often fills me with fairly equal measures of fear and exhilaration with a strong yearning for it to tip more heavily on the side of exhilaration. *sigh*
It’s an unseasonably cold Sunday in November. No big plans for the day, just a strong desire to hunker down and stay warm… a perfect setting for hanging out with the granddaughter and digging through craft materials. It’s always an interesting experience hanging out with kids, you never know what’s going to come out of their mouths… or yours.
With the theme PARTICIPATE in mind for the August issue here at The Magic Happens, I found myself becoming more aware of how much of my energy I was putting into different moments of my time. It’s been fascinating for me to play ‘observer’ of myself… and has had the unexpected effect of causing me to become much more sensitive to energy and vibrations than I ever was before.
Each moment of each day brings us to a choice… not only do we choose what we are going to participate with, but how we are going to participate. Choice is a rich part of life. And whether we believe it or not we have and make thousands of choices each and every day. Yet have you ever felt overwhelmed by choices?
Here at THE MAGIC HAPPENS you may have noticed we select a prompt for each issues theme. It’s fun, and for me very revealing, to see what ideas and stories are inspired by these prompts. With the relaunch of the magazine we’ve stayed with a single word for the prompt… this may not always be the case… but it appears to be working brilliantly right now.
We’re born with a joyful zest for life and an abundance of curiosity. Always asking… for understanding, for information, for acceptance, for permission. And did you know that even without using your physical voice, you are still always asking?
I hope I’m being clear here that I am not giving you, dear reader, the big, fat, middle finger… instead, I’m speaking to all the old ideas, beliefs, and opinions that I have held so dearly… and for such a long, long, time, up to and through the year 2013!
