Being Able to Laugh at Yourself is a Gift – by Annie Gelfand

I have this bird feeder that I put black oil sunflower seeds in. It attracts beautiful bright red Cardinals, colorful Bluejays and the tiniest, cutest Chickadees. But they are not the only ones feasting on these delectable treats. The squirrels keep performing the most amazing acrobatics to get into the feeder.

One morning as I sat sipping my coffee, I realized that I had the point of view that the feeder should be for the birds only,  and that I was getting kind of put off at the squirrels for their “invasion”.  As I was sitting in my beautiful garden, I heard something that made me look up. There was  a squirrel literally hanging upside down by his toes, defying gravity, determined to get at the seeds when suddenly, he slipped and fell! I had such a belly laugh at his antics and determination.  I couldn’t stop laughing at myself for the point of view that I had been holding on to for some insane justification.

So what point of view are you so sure is “right” and if you would let it go, would allow you to laugh at yourself?
