Embracing Your Weird – by Linda Lang

What is this thing called weird?  A lot of people consider it to be something abnormal or at the very least, unusual. Yet, what if it is something we all have?

The average person is definitely not comfortable with “weirdness.” That’s because they have labeled it as undesirable, perhaps even a little bit crazy. After all, it feels safer to fit in, be ‘normal’ and not stand out in a crowd.  But ‘sameness’ is not exactly interesting, inspiring or fulfilling.

We’ve come here to this life to be uniquely ourselves, and hold a place in time and space that no one else can fill. And that means embracing what makes you different from everyone else.

Personally, I tend to like a little weird.  But to me, it probably means something different than to most.

Occasionally someone call might call me weird.  I don’t get insulted. I like being seen as unique and unusual.  And maybe it will help them think outside the box a little bit.   Even though they might not understand me in that moment, they definitely see my expression of uniqueness… and that is perfect. I would much rather be weird than oppress my spirit and be someone I am not.

Without a doubt, we are living in a time in history where the rules are changing.  The idea of a right way to be has fallen by the wayside as more and more people step into a place of wanting to be a more authentic expression of who they are.

We are all very different – each one of us. Your experiences, your thoughts and beliefs, your ideals and attitudes, your culture and history, and how you have integrated the influence of family and society all help paint the picture of who you are.

And then there is the vibe that really is your essence, underneath all the external influences — the part of you that is timeless and eternal, your soul or spiritual self.  As you connect to that delicious and truer aspect of you, and let it shine through, you will find life to be more joyful, fulfilling and inspired.

Go ahead and be yourself!  Express that unique vibration that only you have and only you can bring to the world.  It takes the consciousness of each one of us to create this world, so let’s create it with the truth of who we are deep inside.
