Flowing into the Stream of Choice by Bob Rush

So much of the events in our lives are the result of the choices we have made. Choice is probably one of the single greatest tools we are armed with when dealing with our day to day lives. Over the course of my time on this planet, I have made some really good ones and some really bad ones. The power of these comes from the lessons learned. Growth comes from realizing that within any experience, we are ultimately responsible for the situation and how the situation ultimately plays out.

One of the key ingredients is intuition. Learning to trust and go with your gut feeling is generally powerful because it never steers you wrong. Too many times in my life, I chose not to do so and regretted it later. Intuition is insight and it is powerful. Life lessons can be painful but they pave the way to acceptance, letting go, surrender and finding peace. We move closer to our true selves when this happens.

Back to being in the moment. It is one of the greatest choices we can make. Why? Because it allows for freedom of being. When we chose to be there, we become open to the ordinary miracles and magic of everyday life. Otherwise we waste precious energy and time stuck in past events and contemplating the future over which we have no control. And, yes, I have been guilty of being anywhere but the present. I am getting better at being present by exhaling and relinquishing control. And in so doing my days have become calmer. I remember going to my hay supplier one morning and telling him about the impending snow storm and being really whiny. He asked me if there was anything I could do about it. Of course, I said no. And in his infinite wisdom and with a smile on his face told me to shut up! I stopped and started laughing. He was sooo spot on!

Choice is how I make sense of my life. Transitions come as a result of decisions to change the path of the journey and begin new chapters. Recently, I switched careers from working with horses six days a week in all the elements to working for local government five days a week. As much as I loved what I was doing with the horses, I made a conscious choice to take care of myself and move on. My knees aren’t what they used to be. My physical well being dictated the change. It is all good.

Life is like a giant menu. So many possibilities, so many choices and so many paths. Where do we begin? Do we follow the yellow brick road, listen to our heart, or do we be like sheep and just follow the masses. Lemmings come to mind. We must follow our own light and our own path. Choice can be overwhelming but if we step back, take a deep breath, we begin to realize that everything we need to make the right decision is already within us. We intuitively have the tools to guide us. Like a key to the kingdom , intuition is the pathway to our own power. It is incumbent to respect and use this power wisely. Trust

Hey gang! I am just a fellow traveler along this journey we like to call life. I am currently in a second career of sorts. Working my passion which is horses. Mostly I am truly into doing bodywork or massage. I feel its the least we can do to such trusting majestic beings. Its my spirituality that gets a boost from their simple but elegant energy. I hope I can share funny moments, aha moments and just insights to make the journey peaceful, fun and of course, full of magic.
