Hands to Work and Heart to God – by Shuddhaanandaa Brahmachari

The fear of the future comes from the fact that we are not able to see life as an ever-unfolding process toward a Higher Consciousness. It is lack of trust in the Divine and in the power of the higher mind within that makes us myopic.

We need to shake off all apprehensions and live with moment-to-moment awareness that the unseen hands of the Divine are ever working with us to co-create that which is best for us, so that we may enter into a life without fears and boundaries.

We needn’t always follow what is going on in our mind. Mind chatters about many things; most often our fears and apprehensions are phantom projections that never come true. The larger truth is that the higher intelligence is taking care of us, that our steadfast devotion to Truth and our hard work can never fail. We are safe in the hands of the One who feeds trillions of species of life and governs this most mathematically precise Universe.

If we truly feel the unseen hands of God protecting us, then worries and anxieties cannot have the advantage in our life! We eat food, but do we know how we digest food? Do we know how our heart functions? Yet that one organ keeps working day and night keeping us alive! Who is taking care of these functions to gift us life moment-to-moment? Yes, the same power is working out its own designs to pull us out of all ignorance and pain into the world of light and freedom.

Always try to see the hands of the divine behind every mundane act and situation in life. It is all the play of Consciousness. Expand the field of conscious awareness and move mindfully through all the repetitive chores of life and find that life in itself is a perfect celebration when anchored in the spirit within.

A strong will and a deep faith in the divine takes us forward in the path of spiritual evolution. The day we realize that we are but tiny toys in the hands of the universe, that we don’t have power to even blink our eyes or take a breath, we will be truly surrendered and the process of self-realization would be quicker, peace and joy will surround us. We will become a source of happiness for others. Then we will keep giving our heart to God, and our hands to his selfless service.

Giving is receiving. The whole universe is a mirror, pure reciprocation. If we can bend our knees and hold the hands of someone in pain and suffering and poverty, we will know that we have received from the universe an assurance of the help of a million hands when we need it. Give love, give inspiration, give forgiveness, and give that which we expect to receive from God’s hands.

The Indian word Namaste is profoundly significant for it reflects the namaskar mudra. When we bring our left and our right hands together we are basically bringing the two forces of negative and positive power together in a very balanced state where the negative forces merge into the positive. This brings about an aura of positive vibrations that spread all around us and ripple over to the universe.

The word Namaste means, “I salute the God in you.” So when we put our hands in the namaskar mudra and bow to each other, we are expressing our most profound gratitude and love and thankfulness to each other saying, “I thank the God in you.” In reality, this is God thanking God! For in the entire existence there is none but the One without the second, whom we call God.
