They say that if you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything. Although that’s not really true, it feels that way when your health is struggling. Perhaps it is more accurate to say that your health affects every aspect of your life.
And yet, health is so much more than the function of the physical body. When I was diagnosed with cancer over 30 years ago, somehow I had the sense to focus both on my physical body and my spiritual connection.
In such trying times, I needed both. I didn’t even have to think about it, I just knew. Perhaps, because I took an alternative route. Perhaps because of my youth and the scary road ahead of me. I’m not sure but I knew I needed the strength and support that a deep spiritual connection gives you. I had lots of Faith. Now I was being called to Trust.
After diagnosis, I spent that first year learning how to muscle test and tuning into my body’s guidance system. I wanted to make sure that the foods I ate and the herbs and supplements I was taking, were supporting life and not taking life away. Sometimes good foods aren’t good for YOU, and muscle testing gave me some feedback. I exercised gently, not vigorously because I needed energy for healing, but I also knew that body movement is so important to a well functioning system. I took time every day to meditate and immerse my spirit in whatever way I could find positivity, hope and inspiration.
It was through my healing journey that I learned how important emotions and thoughts are! All those unresolved emotions, beliefs and negative thoughts not only impact our health, but are often at the root of our dis-ease. In my healing process, I received the message that at the root of my health challenge lay all the resentments I had felt but never really let go of. Just because something is in the past does not mean that it is not affecting you on some level. Time and time again, I see emotions play a huge role in my clients’ physical health, their happiness, relationships, work and the quality of their lives.
If you are struggling, please consider your old stories of pain and suffering, your beliefs and thought patterns, and any places where you still are holding on to uncomfortable emotions. Are you ready to let them go? There are many alternative healing techniques that can help you release them! That is why I do the work I do.
It is time that we consider health holistically – physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Thankfully research is starting to confirm the links.
BE whole. BE healthy on every level.
