Ever since I can remember, I have been moved by music. As a teenager in the ’70’s, I used to tape songs that I loved off the radio so that I could DANCE!! I danced in my room, I danced in the street, I danced in my backyard. I didn’t care who saw me. I loved to move my body then and I love it now.
Music and bodies are like bread and butter, summer and sunshine, giggling and kids – it’s the life beat, the rhythm, the essence – it gets into my body. The notes wash over me, flow through me, sometimes a tsunami of movement and energy; sometimes so gentle and tender, it’s a soft sweet caress. Music brings my body alive, pulsing with life, it absolutely has to move when it is moved to move.
The sensuality comes in as I begin to connect with my rhythm, my movement, as my body experiments with swaying and jumping and grinding its parts. As I become so present, so alert, so aware of what creates joy in that moment of movement, it is as if everything turns on. I am on. I am me. And that is sensuality. Sensuality is when we are being ourselves, naked, unmasked, vulnerable, open, real.
What if the very thing that connects us to our bodies, to the earth, to ourselves, is movement and through movement, we get to discover us – our own rhythm – our own sensuality?
What movement is your body asking for to express your joy of living??
Do y’all get the energy of explosion? Excitement? Living? Being? Creation? Generative healing nurturing?
