Concentrate – by Andreas N. Bjørndal

Concentrate!
.
A beautiful and precise word that means con-centrate or “with the center”.
.
This Latin word in its early use also had the meaning of coming together, like a concentration of people. Or people concentrating on a common spot, like the marked place or in front of the town hall. Today it is primarily used as the individual process of being focused on the goal or point of achievement. Do slightly difSkjermbilde 2016-06-30 kl. 12.15.27ferent both uses are about being with the centre, or focusing on the centre. Either you put your thoughts together or you put people together towards the same spot. Concentration is the most important key for any achievement. It you are an athlete, musician, performer, speaker, writer or if you work spiritually concentration is the key to succeed.

The Spirituality of An Elder – by Marie Pollnow

This came to me the other day while I was waiting for an idea from God Source or Universe.  I wanted to change my approach to how I wrote this column.  So in essence I turned the tables as well as me pondering my new projects to include a book and interviewing Seniors.  When you wish upon a star…. So there’s so much more than a material world.

Modern Day Values – by Wayne

Sometimes I’ve got to wonder what people are thinking.
.

I work at the coffee where I see a lot each day that makes me shake my head. You have the rude ones, the demanding people, the out right ignorant, the ‘your job is to serve me’ folks, the cell phone talkers, the always down in the dumps ones, and finally the always mad at life ones. You get the picture.

Here, Come and Sit on My Lap TOP! – by Annette

.
Oh my goodness, I would like to think I have a pretty good head on my shoulders and 99.9% of the time I believe I am worth my weight in gold however today I am feeling like this just isn’t the case. I have written in the past about how having a cat around can humble you to the core but I think I have actually found something that can do the job quicker and without having to keep the food bowl full.  Yes, I am speaking of a new computer!  Or even just computers in general.

What Value Do YOU Place On The Self? – by Ariel

.

Value may be defined as the important and lasting beliefs held by society, about what is good and desirable – what has relative worth, merit or importance. These societal values have throughout history, had a major impact on people’s attitudes and behaviour. Therefore it raises the questions “what value do we place on the self and others? Is our true value as a human being really determined by how society sees us?”

Is Your Value Only On Your Business Card? – by Shuddhaanandaa Brahmachari

There are two worlds, one physical and the other ethereal or astral! As such there is not much difference between the two. In this world your education, success, social status, money, these create your identity shown on your business card. In the after-world they have no value, it is your character, spiritual attainment, love, compassion and deepest devotion for the Divine that decides who will be your companion there! It is the light of your soul that is of all value!

The Power of Prayer – by Linda Lang

.
Have you ever had a prayer answered?
I have.  And sometimes I don’t even recognize it until after the fact.  I’m sure that happens when I have expectations of how my answer should look.  I have come to believe that we get what we ask for, but not necessarily in the way that we want.
.
I remember a friend of mine who always said she wanted to be a loving and supportive wife.  Every now and again I would hear her complain about having to pay her husband’s way or more than what she considered her fair share. Had she asked for this by wanting to support her husband?  That’s certainly not what she meant when she said it!

Older But Wiser – by Kay

At 08.03 m I turned 53 years of age. I find it incredulous I have been on this earth for so long. Far from being scared of the biggish number I have become.
.
I am so grateful for all the wisdom I have accrued to this point. I have taken stock of what is important in life and know how to value friends and family and to give out the loving vibe in a very unpredictable world.
.
To me, it is all about working towards your aim while trying to change everything around you for the better, wherever possible.
.
I have learnt to rise above emotional unintelligence, childishness and jealousy.

Attitude of Gratitude – by Annette

Since the theme for the feature articles of our July 2015 issue of the magazine is VALUE it got me to thinking about the value of our lives, or rather, how we place value on our lives and for me that means gratitude. In other words, when we have gratitude for something, anything, it then has value to us.  I am applying this thought process to our lives here but you can actually use the same logic when considering everything from vehicles to food to the thoughts, words and deeds of others; gratitude will show us value and that which we value, we are grateful for.

If You Don’t Value Yourself…Nobody Else Will – by Tanya

My Philosopher Dad always used to tell me, “If you don’t value yourself, nobody else will!”.  It didn’t really resonate with me when I heard it the first time… but I was only 20 then.
.
He said it while I was considering lowering my commission on a real estate listing.
.
My Dad and I worked together as a real estate sales team in the 80’s when mortgage interest rates were averaging 20% and the real estate market was lean and mean — in more ways than one!

Personal Introduction – by Ariel Brown

My name is Ariel, named by my mother from Shakespeare’s Tempest – my parent’s prediction that I would create a storm in the world. I do not believe I have, as yet! I have lived in Australia my whole life – all sixty years of it. Currently I reside in a very small farming community in rural Queensland. By small, I mean one pub, a school, a community hall and one general store. And though there is a residential house converted into a police station – it is unoccupied at present. However, I have lived in city suburbia, country towns, rural farms, and resort beach towns in most parts of Australia at one time or another.

Value Yourself – by Sara Jane

You are very special, don’t doubt it because very one is special; no one is more or less special than anyone else. You were also born perfect, with all the gifts, talents and strengths that you require for this life and for your life purpose, whatever that may be. It does not matter what your chosen role is for this life, it is essential within the big picture of life. Think of a mechanism and all the cogs that make up that mechanism, every cog however is essential and if the smallest cog stops working it affects the smooth running of the whole mechanism.

Hair Care/Skin Care – by Kay Avalon

.
If you are into natural toiletries and excellent nutrition, like myself, you may want to avoid hair dyes that contain irritants or toxins and don’t really look that natural.
.
Despite my 53 years, I am very lucky to have very little grey hair but I do like to enhance the tones and hues already in my crowning glory. How it is done naturally? Henna (top quality with no heavy metals), followed by pure organic Indigo powder. Add Amala for conditioning and burnishing of the henna tones to a subtle burgundy. Amala also encourages curl, which I like.

What’s Value Worth? – by Gerard

.
As a fifteen year old boy I looked around and thought, “the world’s a crazy place to live”. People did stupid things, governments were corrupt, nations were selfish and ideologies were creepy. War was all over the globe and we lived in fear for the Soviets and nuclear attacks. The Rote Armee Fraction, the Brigate Rosse, the Basques and the IRA spread terrorism over Europe. I was confident things would get better over time. Peace would spread, equality would grow and people would become wiser; love would rule the world.
