Lately I have noticed there isn’t a lot of sharing or promoting of smaller businesses. The cute little shops we love to go in or visit webpages exist only as long as they are utilized. It’s important we support the folks who work so hard to bring us their one of a kind products and services. We should support one another in our endeavours as a global community and keep the uniqueness of a handmade gift or service geared to our well being.
Each month I am going to review a small business that offers shipping and/or services that can be done over the web. This year lets make the little guy/gal our priority and lift one another up instead of competing. No two products or services are exactly alike, each person add their own magic and spark even if they may look similar. It is hard enough to compete with big names without the pettiness spilling over to our greatest gifts of talented people who provide and/or make beautiful things with you in mind. They focus on the individual not the big advertising campaign on TV to make you think you’re getting one of a kind stuff.
This magazine is a great example of different contributors promoting one another as well as the super programs The Magic Happens is developing. If we don’t help one another, there isn’t a magazine, the administrators here are fantastic and work diligently to help each and every one of us. Let’s keep these grass roots shops online and in stores! Support your local artisans and service providers, they really are worth another look,
First up for the month of January I want to talk about a cute little boutique in Cambridge Ontario Canada called Black Orchid Designs, the owner’s name is Kerri Mercer and she is such an awesome seamstress! She uses vintage material and findings to make gorgeous one of kind couture. Kerri makes the sexiest little corsets that I may have to get one for myself! But that’s not all, she also showcases other artisans in her store, she has a range of handmade aromatherapy products, leather crafts, handmade journals, scarves, oh my the list goes on! Here are a few examples of what you can expect to find:
Kerri has tons of options for your alternative couture needs. She gives you the customer service and attention you need and deserve! I hope you will check out her shop if you are close by, she is located in the historic downtown village of Hespeler in Cambridge. Not close by? No problem, here is her website and don’t forget to like her Facebook page so you can be up on all the new stuff coming in!
Let’s make 2016 the year of the helping the small businesses around the world in our local global community!
Wishing you all a delightfully delicious month! Sheri
