You can’t change who you are or can you? This is a theme that runs through most people’s lives, myself included. What limits us from being the best person we can be? Why do we need constant reassurance from outside sources? When we will be the best person we can possibly be?
I think (I know) that when we change our beliefs, we change our world. Inner dialogue dictates our outer world. So let’s take a look at the first question. Do we really need constant reassurance from outside of ourselves that we are good, happy and healthy? I say “NO!”. We have been taught this way of seeing ourselves by our parents, teachers, the media. You can change anything in your outer world, just go Within and make it so. Now here’s the part where you say “David that’s easy for you to say and do, but I have a hard time doing that.” I’m going to let you in on a little secret, it gets easier with practice.
Here is an exercise you can do to change your current beliefs and bring some new ones into your reality. If you already have a meditation practice this will be familiar ground, if not you can start one.
Sit in a quiet space where you won’t be distracted, take some deep calming breaths, Aaah let it out, count to five on the in breath, and count to five on the out breath. Let your mind be still, allow any thoughts to float by, connect to your version of God, the Creator, the Universe, after a few minutes of this (or longer if you like) feel yourself becoming aware of your heart center, with your eyes closed, begin give thanks to all the good things in your life. Now from this space you can say some positive affirmations. I’m going to give you some examples of what I say every morning. Here we go.
I am always in heart centered awareness.
I am always supported by the Universe.
I am worthy of receiving everything I need.
I am allowing forgiveness for myself, to and from others and it feels wonderful.
I am manifesting everything I need right now. Thank you God.
By using the phrase”I am” in the affirmations you are using the name of God, this will make a powerful statement to the Universe, God, Creator. You can finish it with “It is so.” or “Amen” or whatever feels right to you.
You can make your own version of these affirmations and make them for whatever you want to do in your life.
I know this is one of the most powerful tools in the Universe. This also answers the second question “Yes; You can be the the best person you can be in every moment of every day.
Now it’s your turn to do it!
It is so.
